A New Promise for the Special Diabetes Program

2011 was an exciting year for JDRF Advocacy, especially with the Promise to Remember Me Campaign! The year saw the completion of 260 meetings with Members of Congress, which we could not have done without advocates like you. However, we still have another 4 months left of the Campaign. The meeting total is currently at 283, which means we need 149 more meetings to reach our overall goal!

With a new year comes a new promise for the Campaign. In addition to discussing the artificial pancreas technology with Members of Congress, we will be focusing on the renewal of the Special Diabetes Program (SDP) in 2012. This important program funds research at NIH that is bringing us closer to a cure and new treatments for type 1 diabetes. The SDP even funded research into the artificial pancreas technologies that are addressed by the draft guidance issued by the FDA last fall!

Tell your Member of Congress what is important to you and others affected by diabetes by signing up to attend a Promise Campaign meeting. If you are interested in coordinating a meeting, please let me know by sending an email to advocacy@jdrf.org

Only YOU can help us hold 432 meetings with Members of Congress: sign up for the Promise Campaign today!
