Members of the Gould family and JDRF Middle Tennessee Executive Director Mary Lyn Schuh met with Representative Marsha Blackburn for a brief but very positive Promise meeting on August 31. The attendees thanked Representative Blackburn for her support of the renewal of the Special Diabetes Program and for serving on the Diabetes Caucus. They then asked her to make a floor statement regarding the need from the FDA to quickly provide guidance for outpatient trials of the artificial pancreas. Representative Blackburn remarked that she thought it would be best to have the Energy & Commerce Committee send a letter to the FDA, which would carry more weight. The Representative confirmed that she would be in attendance for the opening ceremony of the Nashville JDRF Walk. She mentioned that the company where her son has just started working has formed a walk team and they will all be wearing pink tutus in support of their youth ambassador’s family team, Reese’s Pink Super Tutus. Thanks to Representative Blackburn for a great meeting!
