Representative Andrews meets with the children and teenagers in attendance at the JDRF Promise meeting
JDRF advocates had an excellent Promise meeting with Representative Robert Andrews on September 27. Representative Andrews started by thanking the advocates for the work that they are doing and just how important it is that a cure is found for type 1 diabetes. Each of the attendees then had a chance to tell their story of how type 1 affects them. The advocates also discussed the artificial pancreas technology, with which Representative Andrews was familiar and which he does support. He advised he would like to send a letter to FDA Commissioner Hamburg in support of the artificial pancreas. Representative Andrews also indicated that he believes that NIH funding is too low, and he is supportive of seeking the highest amount possible in this climate. The meeting concluded with Representative Andrews giving the advocates best wishes for their success.
