JDRF volunteers meet with Representative Darrell Issa (CA-49)
JDRF San Diego volunteers met with Representative Darrell Issa at his district office in Vista on February 22. Once again, district constituent Steve Kovsky arranged the meeting. The Representative has met with Steve and Aaron, Steve's son with type 1, numerous times and Mr. Issa has watched Aaron grow up through these Promise meetings. After speaking with Aaron about being recently accepted to Cal Poly, the Representative met Ken and Toby Leon (neighbors of the Representative) who have an adult son with type 1 diabetes. Also in attendance were Julie Ensign and her two children, who were last year's Children's Congress delegates, and JDRF International Board Member Lorraine Stiehl. The Representative expressed support for overall NIH funding. THe advocates extend great thank to Representative Issa for meeting with them!
