Mark Fischer-Colbrie, Tony Klein and Pam Sagan met with Representative Anna Eshoo and her staff member Anne Ream to discuss the artificial pancreas and regulatory issues at the FDA. Representative Eshoo, representing the Silicon Valley, is quite knowledgeable about medical technology issues at FDA and is very supportive of JDRF issues in general. She is a member of the Energy & Commerce committee and had just met with Commissioner Hamburg and expressed her concerns about medical technology and devices lagging behind other developed countries. As a result of this meeting, the Representative and JDRF staff and volunteers composed a letter from her, individually, urging FDA to deliver on the promise of clear and reasonable guidance by December 1 that will allow trials on APP to be completed as quickly as possible. Thank you to Representative Eshoo for her continued support!
